Meet Intel Core i7’s little sibling, the Intel Core i5. Core i7 for the masses?
Same as the Core i7, the Core i5 is based on Intel’s Nehalem microarchitecture, but on a different Socket (LGA 1156 instead of LGA 1366).
The Core i5 will also utilize the Intel Hyper-Threading technology which makes its 4 physical cores process 8 threads simultaneously, generating 8 virtual cores.
The initial line-up is said to be clocked from 2.66 GHz to 2.93 GHz, and will ship in Lynnfield, Clarkdale, Clarksfield and Arrandale core codenames.
